PUJO or Hydroneprosis

The simplest solution to a blocked kidney or hydronephrosis is to place a ureteric stent. This is only temporary as the stents can usually only remain in place for 6-12 months. The definitive solution to a PUJ obstruction is a pyeloplasty. These are now performed by a minimally invasive technique utilising the Da Vinci robot.  For further details of the procedure please see the BAUS information sheet
